Candidate Statement
I am a strong believer in volunteering to serve in leadership roles when you have something to contribute, and I have done so throughout my personal and professional life. I believe my past experience, perspective and commitment to this role will make me a solid choice as your representative. If chosen to serve on the Board of Governors, I am committed to being an active and vocal representative of the Columbia Circuit on behalf of my colleagues at the State Bar of Georgia.
It is so important that our circuit be represented at the State Bar and I will do everything in my ability to ensure that our region of state is included in the discussions affecting our profession. I have always been so impressed by the dedication of the attorneys in our community to commit themselves to the betterment of our profession and I will strive to continue that example.

Personal/Family
- Born and raised in Statham, Georgia, I relocated to the Augusta area after law school, where my father’s family hails. I live in Evans, Georgia, with my beautiful wife, Meredith, two boys Harrison (8) and Spencer (7), and our golden doodle Lucy (13). We worship at Wesley United Methodist Church and are heavily involved in our local community.
- I have been called to serve in various leadership positions throughout my adult life going all the way back to college. At Mercer, I had the honor and privilege of serving as student body president and then served as the student body vice president at Vermont Law School. It was in school that I learned the value and importance of being a voice for my piers and that diligence and determination are useful tools in accomplishing my goals.
Professional Background, Bar Activities, Civic Activities
- I have a solo practice specializing in Family Law and have been a practicing attorney for nearly 17 years. I started my career as the domestic violence attorney with Georgia Legal Services before going into private practice in 2012.
- I have served in various Bar committees and positions throughout my career. I currently serve on the Executive Board of the Augusta Family Bar Association and have previously served as president, vice president and treasurer. I organized the Fall Family Law CLE for the Augusta region in 2023 and also oversee applications and interviewing of new applicants to the Guardian ad Litem Program. I have also served on the Augusta Bar Executive Committee and Law Day Committee as well as the State Bar of Georgia.
- I am an alumnus of the State Bar of Georgia Young Lawyers Division Leadership Academy as well Leadership Augusta. I have previously served as the Greenbrier High School mock trial coach, successfully advancing to the state finals.
- I have served in numerous civic organizations over the years. Most recently I have served on the Board of Directors for SafeHomes of Augusta, holding the past positions of vice chair and chair. I have been a member of the Columbia County Board of Commissioners Greenspace Advisory Board, holding the past positions of secretary and chair.
Main Issues Facing the State Bar/Position
If chosen to represent my circuit serving on the Board of Governors, I am committed to attending board meetings and listening to the pressing issues facing the State Bar of Georgia on behalf of my colleagues and fellow members of the Bar. I intend to be a strong voice for issues that affect our profession and seek out solutions to better our Bar as a whole to ensure it maintains its integrity and purpose. I have always been impressed by the strength and integrity of our members of the Bar and their willingness to freely give of their time and experience to the betterment of our Bar. I hope to continue that example through my continued service if given the opportunity.
