Candidate Statement

I am Mazi Mazloom, an attorney, judge and dedicated community leader based in Marietta, Georgia. For more than two decades, I have been committed to upholding justice, advocating for my clients and serving my community in various legal and leadership roles.

Throughout my career, I have remained active in legal and professional organizations. I have served as president of the Cobb County Bar Association (2013-14), as well as in multiple leadership positions, including treasurer, secretary and Board of Trustees member. I am also a founding member of the Marietta Lawyers Club and a member of the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the National College for DUI Defense.

In addition to my legal work, I have been honored to teach at Kennesaw State University’s Paralegal Certificate Program (2008-10).

Giving back to my community is a core value of mine. I have been deeply involved in organizations such as Leadership Cobb, where I received the Spirit Award in 2010, and the Cobb Chamber of Commerce, where I will serve on the Board of Directors (2025-26). I have also mentored young professionals through the Cobb Young Professionals Mentoring Program since 2017.

Currently, I serve as president of the Board of Directors for Visit Marietta, and I have contributed to numerous local organizations, including The Strand Theatre, Davis Direction Foundation and the Cobb County Library Foundation.

My career has been built on a passion for justice, leadership and service. Whether I’m advocating for my clients, presiding as a judge or giving back to my community, I remain committed to making a difference. I take great pride in my work and will continue to serve with integrity, dedication and a strong sense of responsibility to my profession and my community.

  • I live in Marietta, Georgia, with my wife and I have two children (ages 22 and 20) from a previous marriage. My wife and I have a 7-year-old miniature Yorkie.
  • I enjoy traveling, grilling and smoking, mixed martial arts and I have been trying to learn how to play the guitar.

Professional Background, Bar Activities, Civic Activities

  • I started The Mazloom Law Firm, L.L.C., in 2004 and focus on criminal defense.
  • I started my legal career as a bankruptcy attorney representing debtors in federal court from 1998 to 2000. I served as an assistant solicitor general in Cobb County from 2000 to 2002. I then served as an assistant district attorney in Cobb County from 2002 to 2004. Upon leaving the District Attorney’s Office, I started The Mazloom Law Firm, L.L.C., in 2004. I served as an associate Municipal Court judge in the city of Marietta from 2008 to 2017. I currently serve as an associate Municipal Court judge in the city of Roswell and have been doing so since 2013. I am an authorized lodge attorney for the Fraternal Order of Police, Kermit Sanders Lodge #13 since 2004. I was an instructor at the Kennesaw State University Continuing Education Paralegal Program from 2008 to 2010.
  • I am currently serving on the State Bar of Georgia Bench and Bar Committee. I am a member of the State Bar of Georgia Criminal Law Section. I have been a member of the Cobb County Bar Association since 2000 and have served in the following capacities: president 2013-14, president-elect 2012-13, treasurer 2011-12 and secretary 2010-11; Board of Trustees 2007-2010; Small and Solo Firm Section secretary 2024-25; Criminal Defense Section president 2008-09 and president-elect 2007-08; Younger Lawyers Division president 2005-06 and president-elect 2004-05; Partners In Education chair 2005-2009, 2011-2012; and, Law Day event chair 2009 and Silent Auction chair 2008. Additionally, I have been involved with the following legal organizations: Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers; National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers; National College for DUI Defense; DUI Defense Lawyers Association; Founding Member of Marietta Lawyers Club; Lawyers Club of Atlanta 2008-2011; Supreme Court of Georgia Commission on Interpreters (Appointed July 2015 for five-year term); and National College for DUI Defense 2016-present.
